Nokia N97 Vs Sony Ericsson Idou - Which Will Be The Symbian King?

Symbian is making its big play in 2009, and two phones are leading the charge: the Nokia N97 and the incredible Sony Ericsson Idou. Let's see how they stack up against each other...

Nokia N97 - taking Symbian to the next generation

After the triumphant launch of the Nokia 5800, which was only ever meant to be a mid-range phone, Nokia need a new top-ender to really wow the public. And that top-ender is the hyper-powered Nokia N97. It takes the brand new Symbian Touch interface, and adds in bags more power, as well as a full QWERTY keyboard. Even starting with the looks, it's a truly stunning phone, with sleek surfaces and a minimalist design making the Nokia N97 truly a beautiful sight to behold.

However, the impressive nature of the Nokia N97 doesn't end with the exterior, as it's what's inside that really impresses. Equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, it effortlessly switches from phone to camera, letting you leave your separate camera at home. And then, of course, there's the media player, and with a massive 32Gb of integrated memory, the Nokia N97 lets you leave your mp3 player at home. And, of course, with HSDPA data speeds, and WiFi, the Nokia N97 even morphs into a miniature laptop when you need it to. It's quite simply an astounding phone.

But there IS a phone that can beat it...

Sony Ericsson Idou - the ultimate Symbian phone?

Announced at the Mobile World Congress, the Sony Ericsson Idou takes the same Symbian OS seen in the Nokia 5800 (which is a good comparison, as both are keyboard-less), but refines it, adding a bespoke Sony Ericsson interface on top. It's much more optimised for finger control than either of the Nokias, and because of that, the Sony Ericsson Idou takes the crown in terms of usability. In terms of features, it may not have the QWERTY keyboard you get with the Nokia N97, but with a massive screen, and a much slimmer body, that's not an issue. Oh, and of course, it matches its features (except for built-in memory), but the Sony Ericsson Idou has one killer feature that beats the N97 hands down: the camera. The Idou is the first phone announced for the UK that features an enormous 12 megapixel camera. It may lack the keyboard and built-in memory of the Nokia N97, but it's still the better phone. It's so good that many are predicting it may well be the phone of the year!

5 Thinnest Notebooks with High Performance

The Notebooks been likened to become our close friends, we work can't be separated from the notebook. Starting from a percentage up to create 3D animation. The notebooks vendor already aware of it, they looked at carefully notebooks market. So they launched a thin notebooks with good performance. It can't be separated from the role of Intel and AMD processors that require low power. Intel with CULV (Customer Ultra Low Voltage) Processor and AMD with Athlon NEO.

Intel vs AMD: The Archenemy

So, That notebooks market was then targeted by AMD, AMD introduced the latest platforms who called AMD Yukon. One of the things that AMD offering is a high performance by requiring only a low power consumption. AMD Yukon platform is called the Athlon Neo MV40 processor. Athlon Neo MV40 has a small footprint (27x28mm) and low profile (2.5 mm) that doesn't require elaborate cooling systems. This processor will be paired with the ATI Radeon X1250 chipset, that will produce high 3D performance.

But whether accidental or not, Intel also released thin notebook platform with the name Montepina Plus. On this platform, Intel uses processor called Core2Solo CULV. CULV processor is essentially a modification of the ULV processor (combined with the 45nm Penryn technology). Since using a smaller fabrication, Intel claims that CULV processor have low power consumption.

That 5 notebooks have a price between $700-$1000. The meaning is, thin, lightweight, and low power, have a price far below the ultraportable notebook like the MacBook Air or Dell Adamo.

BlackBerry Curve 8520 (Gemini) - Cheap but luxurious !

BlackBerry Curve 8520 Review: If we look physically, the BlackBerry 8520 (Gemini) is similar to Jevelin and Tour. No wonder that three BlackBerry's are family of Curve. But if we look at body BlackBerry 8520 (Gemini) looks smaller than its predecessor. The most visible difference between Jevelin, Tour, and Gemini is on the cover design, where the BlackBerry 8520 (Gemini) was used the material combination between soft plastic and rubber. So, this smartphone can be resistant to slash.

Unlike the Tour, the BlackBerry 8520 (Gemini) are still using OS v4.6.1 and the Tour have been using the BlackBerry Operating System v4.7.1. For processors that use on the BlackBerry 8520 (Gemini) slightly slower than the Tour is on the clock speed of 512MHz. Interface on the BlackBerry 8520, the 8520 Curve's interface is same with the Javelin and the Bold. Structure and icons on the menu was same. On the whole interface on the Gemini is not much different from the other Curve models.

Like its predecessor, this BlackBerry Gemini  still carries a typical application of RIM, such as Push Mail. Please note that until now remained PushMail applications is favorit application from RIM products. To use PushMail, users must subscribe to the service BIS/BES service. Here, 10 email accounts can be delegated well and accessed in real time.

One thing that's interesting from BlackBerry is it own operating system, as well as mobile phones with the Symbian, Windows Mobile, or Android operating system, BlackBerry OS also open to add third party applications. For business, BlackBerry Gemini also supports the same applications with the BlackBerry Tour, Javelin or Bold. It name is To Go the Office application . Unfortunately, this application isn't fully free, this application is still in trial version. One of them is a memo pad, to record the various appointments, tasks and Voice Note is also available in the default version. Gemini also has applications for social networks like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.

BlackBerry Gemini camera equipped with 2 megapixels, like Bold. It's just that the Gemini doesn't have flash and autofocus. Camera settings were fairly standard. Although it looks less than satisfactory, but the Story images appear smooth and perfect.

Gemini media connection quite complete, which Gemini has supported WiFi, Bluetooth and microUSB. Media connections performance was fairly maximum.
